DescriptionThirty years after it closed, the Donoratico shipyard, founded in 1946 by Count Gaddo della Gherardesca on his land in front of the sea, is still remembered for its exploits in the rowing arena, in which it specialised, but also remembered for the realization of leisure boating.
A careful and detailed renovation project has transformed it into tourist accommodation dedicated to environmentally friendly tourism covering an area of 25 hectares of sand dunes, maritime pines and typical Mediterranean vegetation, where a colony of deer has recently been introduced. A wonderful three star superior tourist complex divided into eight buildings spread throughout an park of pines on the shore of the sea, closed to automobile traffic One building, la Vela, is used as a centre for reception and hospitality. There are three floors with a swimming pool, bar, restaurant with a terrace with sea view, self service pizzeria, restaurant for children, market and ice cream bar. The rooms and the apartments are situated in small buildings with two or three floors, surrounded by greenery. Carefully furnished and decorated, they have been planned and realized to guarantee the maximum comfort for the guests while respecting nature thanks to a photovoltaic solar panel which makes the structure autonomous for energy. Ten km. of large wide beach with fine sand in the heart of the Maremma, a blue flag European beach which, thanks to its gently sloping sea bed, is safer for bathers. |
